Bodhi's First Hike with Action Dog!

Today Bodhi went on his first real off leash adventure hike with his new best friends. He did so good, he was off the leash most of the time, and has a great habit of stopping and checking in with us around every turn in the trail. He is super smart and wants to please - training this Aussie pup is super easy and fun! 

Yesterday we went to Point Isabel and he played with tons of new dogs, and practiced his recall around a lot of new things and new distractions. He did beautifully! So, today we took it one step further and went out into the real wild outdoors - we hiked down one of our favorite weekend loops - West Ridge to Tres Sendes up Madrone in Redwood Regional Park. We love it down there, where the tall trees shade us from the blazing sun and the dogs find a few puddles to splash in. Good boy, Bodhi!

May, June, July.... AUGUST!

Holey moley a lot has happened this summer! We've won some, we've lost some, but we're having more fun than ever! Action Dog! is hiking up a storm. Wherever we go, we've got dogs in tow. Just to update everyone on what's happend to us in our doggy life - here are a few of the many photos that we've forgotten to post and stories we've forgotten to blog about!

Hello adorable!

This week sure has been hot! Most of the dogs have definitely been enjoying splashing around in the creeks whenever they get the chance. We've been sticking to the really shaded and cooler trails when we hike in the parks because it's so dang hot! We think this is probably a sign that it is going to be a very warm summer.

The spring wildflowers are booming, and so are the dog ticks. Good thing we have some blond and light colored pups to show us that they're around, we can pick them off pretty easily!

Here's a great photo that I took at Mineral Springs trail yesterday - we did 2 and a half laps for our adventure that day - Molly and Wolfgang sprawled out like pros in the shady cool moist grass. Good pups!

Great shot of a great pack!

I just wanted to post this awesome photo of some of our best dog pals taking a break on our hike on Monday. We went to West Ridge trail near the bowl in Redwood Park. Here we're practicing "sit" command, an easy and BORING basic thing for these dogs to do - but they master it so well I had to take advantage and catch a few pictures.

Roxy's first walk with Action Dog!

Roxy is a 4 year old chocolate lab, and she is great! Jeff took her on her first group dog walk today and as a pack handler, he couldn't have been happier. She has great recall off-leash, and Jeff worked on some basic commands and leash skills with her to establish a good relationship to start, like heel, sit stay, off, and manners greeting the other dogs we meet on the trail.

She is going to be a good dog in our group walks, she is very social and playful. Here are a couple photos of her getting her paws muddy, the rain didn't stop any of the dogs from having a good time! Suma the golden-doodle poses for photos also. Welcome to the pack, Roxy!

Suma's first day with Action Dog!

Welcome to the pack, Suma! She's a young whipper-snapper Golden-Doodle dog, and right out of the gate she did great on her first day with Action Dog! She lives near Sophie, the Labra-Doodle, and today we had a good refreshing dose of doodle madness. They match each other's energy really well on the trail - both love to run and trailblaze. 

We started at Skyline Gate in Redwood Regional Park and hiked up Westridge trail all the way past Moon Gate for a water break at a bench. It was a good long first hike for Suma and when we brought her back home the first thing she did was curl up on her bed.
